Enjoying our time Together
Slowing-down! Indeed, I’ve found it to be a good way to
encourage a culture of being mindful of our little toddler, otherwise, both dad
and I find that the day has wondered away and we never really get it back, even
when it is said, “we’ll do it later or tomorrow”… mostly, the opportunity just
gets lost to connect with our son as things like our phones, the computer,
television, extra work at the office, even grocery shopping gets in the way,
distracting us in the present from our toddler son, so that a gap builds, from
his trying to capture our attention to us being engaged otherwise… and oh, the
look on his tiny face and his repetitious mannerism at times helps us refocus
our attention to include him.
Realization usually takes over and we make a mental note to return to
our task, of course…much later! So that
we could spend time together enjoying his beautiful company, he is growing up
so fast, I remember when he was just so very tiny. The pleasure on his little face even in just sharing
his favourite television show, like “Pepper Pig”, or going to the corner pet store to
look at and buy a few fishes or for a bit of a run for an hour or two in the Savannah,
to baking moms’ “best” batch of Betty Crocker cookies – just as long as we are together, oh what precious
fun, what pleasure! Simply Priceless.
